We have an absolutely awesome local Police department. One of the critical links between the City of Redondo Beach and the RBUSD is through our Police. For years RBPD has had an officer assigned to work directly with, and within, our schools in a positive trust building way. Only recently was the critical role of this cooperation formalized with a Memorandum of Understanding and cost sharing agreement between our city’s Police and our school district. We now have two officers assigned to work with our schools, one primarily at the high school and the other working with the middle and elementary schools. These officers have remained fully active even while our schools have been mostly closed to students, doing campus checks and reassuring any staff on site that they are there to keep an eye on things and keep everyone safe.
I fully support the continuation of this shared interest effort.
